Real Estate Website Migration from Carrot CMS to WordPress

1. Project Overview

A real estate investment company approached us with a challenge: they had recently invested in a fresh homepage design that represented their brand well, but the rest of the site was still running on Carrot CMS with outdated templates.

They wanted two things:

  1. Apply the new homepage style consistently across all pages.
  2. Safely migrate the entire site to WordPress without losing pages, rankings, or functionality.

Our mission was to deliver a seamless migration while creating a unified, modern design experience across the whole site.

2. The Challenge

The company’s online presence was critical to attracting homeowners and generating leads. But their existing platform created problems:

  • Design inconsistency: The homepage looked modern, but internal pages relied on outdated Carrot templates.
  • SEO risks: A migration done incorrectly could have caused major ranking and traffic drops.
  • Content retention: Dozens of important pages and blog posts needed to be migrated without loss.
  • Platform limitations: Carrot CMS restricted design flexibility and content customization.

3. Our Approach

Discovery & Planning

We audited the full site, cataloging every page, post, and asset. This allowed us to design a migration roadmap that minimized risks and guaranteed a smooth transition.

Design Rollout Across Pages

Listings Page:

We redesigned the property listings page to match the new homepage style. The result was a more engaging, user-friendly layout that showcased properties clearly and encouraged inquiries.

Contact Us Page:

On the old website, there was no dedicated Contact Us page or form available, making it difficult for visitors to connect with the company. In the new WordPress site, we built a fully designed Contact Us page from scratch, complete with a professional layout, clear calls-to-action, and an easy-to-use form. This not only improved usability but also established trust and encouraged more inquiries.

About Us Page:

We transformed the About page into a credibility-building section,  with cleaner design, better team storytelling, and stronger CTAs.

Blog Page:

The old site’s blog on Carrot was limited, with a very basic layout that didn’t highlight content well. It lacked visual consistency with the new homepage design, and posts were harder to browse or engage with.

On the new WordPress site, we recreated the blog with a modern, styled layout that matched the refreshed branding. Posts are now easier to navigate, more engaging to read, and better optimized for SEO, giving the company stronger content marketing opportunities.

Safe Migration

We handled the migration with precision:

  • Transferred all content and metadata.
  • Set up 301 redirects to protect SEO.
  • Preserved internal links and navigation flow.
  • Tested forms, CTAs, and functionality for continuity.

Lead Form:
The old site lacked a proper lead capture form, making it difficult for visitors to inquire or take action. On the new WordPress site, we built a modern, user-friendly lead form integrated across key pages. The new design matches the site’s branding, works seamlessly on mobile, and is optimized to boost conversions.

SEO & Performance

To protect search visibility, we:

  • Retained all title tags, descriptions, and alt text.
  • Submitted a fresh sitemap to Google.
  • Optimized performance for speed and responsiveness.

Mobile View:
The old website wasn’t fully optimized for mobile, leading to layout issues and a poor browsing experience on smaller screens. In the new WordPress site, we ensured every page, from the homepage to listings and forms, was fully responsive. The result is a seamless, user-friendly experience across all devices.

Client Empowerment

We configured WordPress with reusable templates and modules, giving the company full control over content updates and scalability.

4. The Results

The migration delivered more than just a platform switch, it was a full transformation:

  • ✅ Zero data loss: Every page, post, and asset was preserved.
  • ✅ Consistent branding: The new homepage design now extends across the entire site.
  • ✅ SEO intact: No drop in rankings or traffic post-migration.
  • ✅ Better performance: Faster load times and improved mobile responsiveness.
  • ✅ Scalability: The new WordPress backend empowers easy content management.

5. Key Takeaways

This project shows that with careful planning and execution:

  • A migration can be done without losing pages, content, or SEO value.
  • A unified design dramatically improves brand trust and user experience.
  • WordPress provides long-term flexibility for businesses that outgrow Carrot CMS.

By combining design rollout with a strategic migration plan, the company now has a website that looks modern, performs better, and is easier to manage for years to come.
